In the presence of a number of esteemed religious and governmental figures, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Mashaal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, inaugurated the Qur’an Museum, one of the main facilities within the Hira Cultural District. The district is a landmark destination enhancing the religious and cultural experience for visitors to Makkah, in line with the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites’ efforts to support high-value projects that highlight the Islamic and historical identity of the Holy City.
The Qur’an Museum offers an immersive and interactive experience, featuring a collection of rare manuscripts, historical Qur’ans, and interactive visual displays that allow visitors to explore the history of Qur’anic transcription and its preservation across the ages. The museum aims to emphasize the Qur’an’s significance as the primary source of guidance for Muslims while enriching the visitor experience through modern presentation methods that reflect the depth of care for the holy book and its heritage.
The inauguration of the museum comes as part of the Royal Commission’s efforts to activate and develop historical and cultural sites, enhancing the experiences of both residents and visitors to Makkah through distinguished projects that reflect the city’s religious and historical identity. The Commission’s support for this project demonstrates its commitment to strengthening partnerships with the private sector, coordinating efforts to develop high-quality initiatives, and promoting the sustainability of cultural and knowledge-based projects, while opening new avenues for innovation in presenting religious and historical content.
Samaya Investment Company, as the main developer of the Hira Cultural District, was responsible for designing and implementing the museum within an integrated system combining knowledge and modern technology. The project was executed under the supervision and support of the Royal Commission, ensuring that this initiative aligns with other cultural and developmental projects that enhance the visitor experience and enrich Makkah’s historical sites.
The Hira Cultural District is a comprehensive destination reflecting Makkah’s spiritual and historical depth. It surrounds Jabal Hira, the site where revelation was first received. The district includes several facilities enhancing visitors’ religious and educational experiences, including the Revelation Exhibition, which provides an interactive presentation of the story of divine revelation to the prophets, and the Hira Cave ascent experience, allowing visitors to reach the historic site via a path prepared to the highest standards. The district also features the Saudi Coffee Museum, the Cultural Library, and Hira Park, offering visitors a complete environment for exploration and a unique educational experience.
The Qur’an Museum is open to visitors throughout Ramadan, serving as both an educational and spiritual window that highlights the care given to the Holy Qur’an. It offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore its history and manuscripts through a comprehensive experience blending tradition with modern technology.
