Jamarat Bridge is one of the largest engineering projects dedicated to serving the pilgrims in Makkah. It is a fully integrated platform designed to facilitate the pilgrims’ performance of one of the most important Hajj rituals: the stoning of the Jamarat.
Stretching over 950 meters in length and more than 80 meters in width, the bridge consists of multiple levels, each with separate entry and exit points to prevent congestion. It is equipped with cooling systems and water mist sprays to ease the heat, along with emergency pathways and elevators that ensure accessibility for the elderly and persons with special needs.
As the days of Tashreeq begin in Mina, vast streams of pilgrims converge on the Jamarat to perform the stoning ritual, creating a solemn display of discipline and faith. Rows of worshippers extend in remarkable harmony, each pilgrim focused on the act with devotion and unified intention. This great gathering transcends mere ritual—it stands as a powerful symbol of Muslim unity and sincere obedience, all unfolding within a meticulously organized framework that safeguards everyone’s well-being.
The ritual of stoning the Devil is an essential part of Hajj, where the pilgrim throws three Jamarat as an expression of obedience to Allah Almighty. The place resonates with chants of Takbīr, bringing to life scenes of faith and reminding pilgrims of the deep spiritual values embodied in this significant rite, and of submitting to the commands of Allah.
The Jamarat Bridge and its shaded corridors have been engineered with pilgrims’ comfort and safety at the forefront. Protective canopies shelter worshippers from the desert sun, while clearly defined pathways guide the flow of people in a smooth, secure manner. This modern architectural solution blends advanced design with a focus on guest well-being, ensuring that every pilgrim can perform the rite safely and with serenity.
